Hurricane Tammy - Update 8

We have a few updates for this Saturday afternoon.

Hurricane Tammy: As of the 11 AM update, Saba is still under a Tropical Storm Warning and now also a Hurricane Watch.

Tammy is moving toward the northwest near 8 mph (13 km/h), and this general motion is expected to continue through tonight. Maximum sustained winds are near 85 mph (140 km/h) with higher gusts. The nearest position to Saba is now estimated to be 54 mi (86 km) to the ENE on Sunday, October 22nd, 04:00 AST.

Tropical storm winds expected from Saturday evening until and including Sunday morning. Heavy rain and thunderstorms can potentially cause mud and rock slides in higher terrain. The storm surge could further raise water levels as the center of Tammy moves closer to Saba.

Makana Ferry: The Makana Ferry services have been canceled for Sunday, October 22nd. They will reassess the weather and sea conditions on Monday.

Airport: The Airport is still assessing the weather situation for Sunday, October 22nd. Stay tuned for updates on flights.

Garbage Bins: There is still a large number of garbage bins out in the open. This is a hazard as winds and fast moving rainwater can blow or wash them away. Please take care and secure your bins.

We will continue to monitor the weather updates, and we encourage you to stay connected to Facebook and WhatsApp for any further updates or advisories.
